Shooting kills one, injures another at Waffle House

Columbia police are investigating a shooting at the Waffle House on Vandiver Drive that killed a 30-year-old man and injured another early Monday morning.

Anthony Desean Warren of Columbia was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the shooting, according to a news release from Police Department spokeswoman Bryana Larimer. Warren and another victim were taken to the hospital in private vehicles.

There was no information about the condition of the second victim, although his injuries were described as non-life-threatening. He is 26.

Larimer said in the news release that the shooting occurred during an altercation shortly before 2 a.m. Detectives were trying to interview witnesses to determine what led to the shooting.
