AREA COLLEGES: Vandals' Ferenz named player of week

MOSCOW - Idaho junior Mikayla Ferenz was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball Tuesday.

Ferenz averaged 26 points for two games and raised her scoring average to 21.1.

She scored 33 points in a win over North Dakota.

Rehkow signs with Giants

Austin Rehkow is getting another shot at the NFL.

The former University of Idaho punter/kicker signed a future/reserve contract with the New York Giants on Monday, the Newark Star-Ledger reported.

That means he'll be on the Giants roster when the offseason ends, but nothing is guaranteed from there.

Rehkow signed a free-agent contract as a punter with the Buffalo Bills last spring but was cut in August.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Two Cougs invited to camp

PULLMAN - Washington State soccer standouts Morgan Weaver and Ella Dederick have received invitations to the U-23 Women's National Team camp in Carson, Calif., which starts Thursday.

The two Cougars join 21 other college athletes and three others at the camp.

SWIMMING

Vandals add home meet

MOSCOW - Idaho women's swimming and diving added a home dual meet to its 2018 schedule. The Vandals will play host to College of Idaho Feb. on 10 at the UI Swim Center.
