Snake River clinches first state berth since ?14

At Moreland, the Snake River High School girls basketball team earned a trip to state after beating Marsh Valley 51-38.

It is Snake River’s first trip to the state tournament since 2014. Marsh Valley has been 3A District 5’s representative in the state tournament for the previous three postseasons.

Tied at 6 all after the first, Snake River outscored Marsh Valley 29-29 during the next two quarters to solidify a strong lead.

Snake River finished 2-2 against Marsh Valley this season.

The Panthers (17-6) then outscored the Eagles 16-13 to earn a trip to state. Snake River will play Thursday at 8 p.m.

GRACE 43, CHALLIS 30: At Terreton, Challis’ season came to end after losing to Grace for the second time in a best-of-3 series.

Challis lost to Grace 35-30 in Game 1 before beating Grace 53-50 in Game 2. No other details of Game 3 were available as of press time.

Challis’ season ends at 7-10.

1A, DII District 5-6 tournament

ROCKLAND 56, MACKAY 39: At Firth, the Mackay High School girls basketball team’s season came to an end after losing to Rockland 56-39 in the loser out bracket of the 1A, DII District 5-6 tournament.

No other details were available as of press time.

Mackay’s season ends at 12-13.
