?  Chase Josey of Hailey was in third place with an 87.75 after the first run of the three-run final in the men’s halfpipe Feb. 14. He fell on his second run but delivered some spectacular tricks in the third run for an 88 to finish sixth.

Ben Ferguson, who was born in Boise but raised in Bend, Ore., nailed his last run for a 90.75 and fourth-place finish.

Shaun White of the U.S. won with a 97.75. Scotty James of Australia took the bronze with a 92.

?  Chase Josey of Hailey delivered under pressure Feb. 13 in men’s snowboard halfpipe qualifying. Josey struggled to a 47.75 on his first run but nailed his second run to earn a score of 83.75. That was good enough for seventh place, which put him in the 12-man final. The three-round final is Wednesday in Korea but will air Tuesday night in Boise. The runs are scheduled for 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. MT and will air on NBC.

Josey is known for his highly technical run that includes some tricks that other competitors don’t do — assets that could set him apart in Olympic judging. He finished third in the 2016 X Games Oslo and fourth in the 2018 X Games Aspen.

“I do think I have a podium-level run,” he told the Idaho Statesman before traveling to the Olympics.

Ben Ferguson, who was born in Boise but grew up in Bend, Ore., was fourth in qualifying.

?  Simi Hamilton, a former member of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation team, qualified 19th out of 80 skiers in the men’s classic sprint Feb. 13. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

?  Jessika Jenson of Rigby was in third place after the first run of the women’s slopestyle on Feb. 12 (Feb. 11 MT) and held that position through most of the second run as windy conditions led to many failed jumps. However, two riders were able to beat her score and knock her down to a fifth-place finish. Jenson scored 72.26 points on her first run. Laurie Blouin of Canada got the silver with 76.33 points on her second run and Enni Rukajarvi of Finland got the bronze with 75.38 points on her second run. Jamie Anderson of the U.S. won the gold with an 83-point performance on the first run.

?  Hilary Knight of Sun Valley recorded an assist in the women’s hockey team’s win against Finland on Feb. 11.

?  McCall native Scott Patterson finished 18th in the men’s skiathlon (15km classic, 15km skate) on Feb. 11 and was the top American in the event. No other American finished in the top 40.

?  Rigby snowboarder Jessika Jenson’s women’s slopestyle event was postponed Feb. 11.

?  McCall native Caitlin Patterson finished 34th out of 61 competitors in the women’s skiathlon (7.5km classic, 7.5 km skate) on Feb. 10. She was second among four Americans.
