The Rock Bridge boys basketball team defeated Blue Springs South in the Class 5 District 9 title game Thursday in Blue Springs, 79-71.
Rock Bridge came into the game with a lone loss on its record and carried its momentum to a 25-20 lead after the first quarter. Blue Springs pulled to within two by the third quarter but were unable to handle the Bruins’ hot scorers.
Star junior guard Isiaih Mosley led the Bruins with 29 points, followed by fellow junior guards Dajuan Harris with 20 points and Jamonta Black with 17. This is the Bruins’ second straight district championship .
The boys take on the winner of Waynesville and Willard at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in Sedalia.
Battle boys basketball head to sectionals
Battle’s boys basketball team defeated Holt in the Class 5 District 7 championship game, 72-68.
Battle held the lead each of the first three quarters, including a 48-42 margin heading to the fourth. However, Holt came back to tie it in the final minutes and regulation ended with the teams notched at 60. The Indians were unable to finish the comeback and Battle finished the game hoisting the championship plaque.
The title marks the Spartans’ second straight district championship.
They’ll take on the winner of Fort Zumwalt West and Fort Zumwalt South at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in St. Louis.
