Illinois woman dies in Callaway County I-70 crash

An Illinois woman is dead after a Sunday night crash on Interstate 70 near Kingdom City.

Ariel Perkins, 21, used the emergency turn-around to travel from westbound to eastbound I-70. A car driven by Michael Smith, 25, of Olathe, Kansas, struck Perkins' car, and both vehicles ran off the right side of the road.

Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith had no injuries reported, but his passenger, J-Von Patten, 17, was taken to University Hospital with moderate injuries.
