The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) use a star rating system to rate over 4,000 hospitals across the country ó and Bonner General Health received a four-star rating.
The rating system is publically reported, and helps guide patients as they select where to receive their healthcare. Hospitals are rated from 1-5 stars, with 5 being the highest award possible. CMS calculates the rating by including information on mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient satisfaction, quality measures, claims data and timeliness of care. Those numbers are then calculated in order to assign the star rating. The national average is 3 stars.
Bonner General Health officials said the hospitalís accomplishment shows the community and prospective patients that BGH provides excellent care. The four-star rating stems from the contributions of each employee and healthcare provider at Bonner General Health.
