ATHOL — A Cocolalla man was killed Friday after crashing his car off U.S. Highway 95, according to Idaho State Police.

State police said James W. Brown was northbound in a 1996 Ford Taurus station wagon when he went off the road onto the left shoulder and struck the end of a guardrail. The vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder near a concrete barrier.

Brown, 84, died at the scene, an ISP news release said. Patricia E. Brown, 84, was not injured in the crash. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, state police said.

The crash happened 4:42 p.m. near milepost 449, which is located at the Highway 54 overpass.
