SANDPOINT — Saturday, Nez Perce elder Diane Mallickan will be speaking and leading discussions at the monthly Native Heritage Film Series at the Sandpoint Library. From Lapwai, Mallickan is a tribal historian and retired educator from the Nez Perce National Historical Park.

The first film is “Spirit in Glass” that celebrates the spectacular beadwork of cultures and artists of the Columbia River Plateau. Following will be “Horse Tribe,” a story about bringing back the Nez Perce’s appaloosa to their land and lives and creating a horse program for tribal youth. Renowned Sandpoint cinematographer Erik Daarstad worked on this film.
