(Photo courtesy MARY BERRYHILL) Bill Stevens, master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, was recently presented a “Quilt of Valor” by quilters Carolyn Inge, Jeannie McMunn and Kary Miller of Sandpoint. Quilts of Valor are awarded to individuals who have served in the U.S. military and have been touched by war. Stevens served during the Vietnam War era and continues to serve his nation in various capacities to this day. Quilters consider their quilts as one of the highest civilian awards they can bestow upon a service member or veteran. The Quilt of Valor Foundation is a non-profit group of quilters located throughout the United States.
