Fire danger delays Clagstone opening

Print Article

VAY — Due to extremely dry forest conditions and high fire potential, the new Clagstone Meadows public use area did not open to the public on August 1 as originally planned.

Stimson Lumber Company, the Idaho Department of Lands and the Idaho Department of Fish & Game have decided to delay the opening until conditions improve.

The area closure is within the guidelines of the Forest Legacy conservation easement, and occasional closures will likely be normal operations during any future hot dry summer seasons. Protecting Stimson’s private forest resources is a high priority.

Notification will be promptly sent out when the closure is lifted.
