SAGLE — One person was killed and eight others injured in an early evening crash Wednesday that blocked the highway for several hours.

Idaho State Police said in a press release that a black 2010 Dodge Caravan driven by Christopher T. Langan, 34, of Bonners Ferry was northbound at about 6:39 p.m. attempting to pass a slow-moving vehicle in the southbound lanes on Highway 95 about two miles south of Sagle. The minivan collided head-on with a maroon 1997 Nissan Altima driven by James E. Moore, 56, of Sandpoint.

Moore succumbed to his injuries Thursday at Kootenai Health.

Passengers in the Caravan were Anneli F. Langan, 31, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and four minor children.

Passengers in the Altima were Amy K. Moore, 50, of Sandpoint, and one minor child. All involved occupants were wearing their seatbelts and were transported to Kootenai Health, ISP said.

The accident, ISP said in the release, happened at milepost 466.5. The roadway was blocked for about two hours.

An investigation is ongoing.
