Gardening group to resume meetings April 10

HOPE — Gardening enthusiasts are invited to join the Gardeners Gathering Group at 10 a.m. every second and fourth Sunday of the month at the Memorial Community Center.

Annie Hawkins, one of the organizers for the meeting, said the group started meeting outside the community center last year to socialize, talk gardening and raise money for the center through a suggested donation.

The group sometimes helps each other identify plants found in their yard, and shares knowledge about gardening issues they may be facing.

Anyone, regardless of whether they’re a novice gardener or a professional with years of experience, is welcome, she said.

“A few of our meetings we would just walk around the community center and see if we could identify the plants,” she said. “We’re very low-key, a bunch of gals or guys who wanna come, bring a coffee, ask a question and share what you know.”
