COEUR d'ALENE — The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is hunting for a Clark Fork man who was on work release and failed to return to custody.

Daniel Lee Munson, 31, failed to return to the Kootenai County Jail on Friday. He was last seen by his employer at about 10 a.m. and was reported to have left the job site with his girlfriend, Heather Rae Bethel, 33, of Spokane.

Munson was serving a sentence a sentence at the jail for violating a court's no-contact order, sheriff's officials said.

Munson was arrested in Kootenai County in April 2020 for attempted strangulation and domestic battery resulting in traumatic injury, according to Idaho's iCourt database. He was subsequently charged with violating a no-contact order on several occasions.

Munson appealed the violations in Kootenai County Magistrate Court, although 1st District Judge John Mitchell affirmed the lower court's ruling last month, records show. Munson also moved to rescind the no-contact order in the felony domestic violence case, but's unclear in online records if the motion was granted or not.

Those with information about Munson's whereabouts are asked to call the sheriff's office at 208-446-1300 or their local law enforcement agency.
