Several dozen concertgoers waited in lawn chairs and improvised seats as St. Paul and the Broken Bones kicked off the Festival at Sandpoint's summer music series on Thursday.

After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Festival at Sandpoint returned to Memorial Field on Thursday as the summer music series kicked off for its two-week run. Music lovers buzzed with excitement and couples, friends, and families rolled coolers and carried lawn chairs through the car lined streets.

In addition to a return of music to the venue, the Festival also saw added security both inside and outside the venue. Along with Sandpoint Police ATV units patrolling surrounding blocks, fence-like-barriers closed off the sideway of Ontario Street outside of Memorial Field.

Sandpoint Police patrolled outside the venue and worked with venue security. There have been added units for the neighborhood to prevent littering and to be on standby in case of an emergency within the venue.

Helping move the crowd along were volunteers in orange at the beginning of the enclosure where they are funneled to the checking station and then into the venue.
