SANDPOINT — Get your running shoes ready for one of the most beautiful races in the U.S., as the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the return of the Scenic Half Marathon. Register now and join the excitement on Sunday, Sept. 17 as hundreds of participants from all over the country race through the majestic outdoors of Sandpoint.

The Scenic Half Marathon is a two-race event in which participants can choose to compete in a 13.1 mile half marathon or 10K run. Both courses start and end at Sandpoint City Beach, with amazing views of Lake Pend Oreille and its neighboring mountains as runners head across the iconic Long Bridge before a journey through historic downtown Sandpoint.

The Greater Sandpoint Chamber will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Forrest M. Bird Charter School’s culinary program, which teaches students about healthy eating from sourcing food to preparing meals. A donation will also be made to the Selkirk Fire Volunteer Firefighters.

Turn the race day into a long weekend by booking a room at one of Sandpoint’s numerous lodging options. After dining at one of Sandpoint’s various restaurants, such as race sponsors Trinity at City Beach and Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Bar, be sure to explore downtown Sandpoint and enjoy all the shopping and entertainment options. Check out some of the event sponsors such as Winter Ridge Natural Foods Market, Evans Brothers Coffee and Litehouse Foods during the weekend.

Even if you’re not one for running, there is plenty of room for Scenic Half Marathon volunteers and spectators. Visit www.scenichalf.com for more information and to register.
