POST FALLS — Senior Hyrum Hunsaker ran his record on the season to 22-4, splitting matches as the Bulldogs lost 43-39 to Rocky Mountain and 81-6 to Post Falls on Friday during the opening day of the River City Duals at Post Falls High School.

The Bulldogs (3-6) drew a tough opening pod, facing 5A Rocky Mountain, with an enrollment of more than 2,400 students, and the powerhouse Trojans, one of the top wrestling teams in the Western U.S., let alone Idaho.

Casey Olesen (113), Brady Nelson (121), Isaiah Fleck (160) and Andrew Webster earned pins against Rocky, while Webster’s first period pin over Post Falls was the Bulldogs’ lone win over the Trojans. August Johnson ran his record on the season to 14-8 with a win over Rocky.

All told there are 34 teams in action, including some southern Idaho powers and salty Montana and Washington squads.

Action continues today in the bracket portion of the duals tournament, starting at 9 a.m. at Post Falls High School.
