SANDPOINT ó The Sandpoint Elks Lodge, in conjunction with The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America, held the 11th annual Patriotic Golf Scramble fundraising event recently to support our local Veterans.

More than $98,000 has been distributed over the 11 years to our local military organizations who provide vital assistance and support to Veterans and their families. This year, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the community, more than $18,000 will be distributed in support of Veterans in Bonner and Boundary County.

With the need for dental care for Veterans who are not covered under the VA, more than $4,500 was donated to the Kaniksu Dental Health program. The remaining funds were distributed to these military groups that participated: American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America.

We would like to recognize and thank the many sponsors and players for making the golf tournament bigger and better every year. The golf scramble would not exist without the wonderful donations and sponsorships of our generous community, once again exceeding all expectations. The generosity and support continues to make this one of the most successful charity golf tournaments.
