SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce welcomed Matchwood Brewing Company to the organization with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their Business After Hours on Oct. 24.

Matchwood Brewing Company opened their doors on Saturday, Oct. 20, after the renovation of a local building in the granary district. Owners Kennden Culp and Andrea Marcoccio came to Sandpoint with a dream of opening a neighborhood brewery.

Culp, who is Matchwood Brewing Company’s head brewer and co-owner, was born and raised just outside of Sandpoint in Noxon. Mont. Kennden has been brewing for seven years and most recently gained commercial experience at Imagine Nation Brewing Company in Missoula, Mont. In addition, he has worked for a local beer and wine distributor interfacing with both customers and distribution staff. I

Culp has over 20 years of experience as a property and project manager with construction, concrete, electrical, welding, plumbing, heavy equipment operation, skilled labor and building experience. He obtained a business degree from the University of Montana with a certificate in entertainment management.

Andrea Marcoccio is the co-owner and general manager of Matchwood Brewing Company. In advance to opening Matchwood Brewing with her husband, she received hands-on training at Imagine Nation Brewing Company in business development and management.

As a small business owner and non-profit executive director for the past decade, Marcoccio loves managing people, balancing books and thinking through endless details. Andrea also serves as the executive director of the Bonner County Economic Development Corporation.

Marcoccio is a graduate of Assumption College with a business degree in organizational communications. She was an All-American soccer play and still loves to play.
