There will be a community informational meeting on all the aspects of the Neighborhood Watch and Community Force programs that are sponsored by the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office and the volunteers of the Community Force who make it happen.
A meeting on the programs, which is open to all area residents, will be held Saturday, June 2, at the Priest River Library, 118 Main St., Priest River. It begins at 10 a.m.
Program offiials said it is important to note that the Neighborhood Watch/Community Force are not vigilante programs.
“They are about neighbors getting to know each other, taking time to care about each other and working together in a satisfying program of mutual assistance,” said Kellie Risso.
“It is community members being trained to recognize and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.”
By cooperating with each other and law enforcement, she added, citizens can help fight crime the most effective way — before it begins.
