SANDPOINT — Are you prepared for an emergency?
To help folks learn about what they can do to hone their preparation skills — or review what they have already learned, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting a preparedness fair on Saturday. The event will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the auditorium of the Sandpoint stake center, 602 Schweitzer Cutoff Road.
Among the booths and information will be tips on choosing and reloading a gun, spiritual, how to put together a “72-hour kit,” sanitation, beekeeping, rocket stoves and cooking with alternative power. In addition, there will be a booth on retention heat cooking with cloth bags, gardening, sprouting, water filtration and water pumping, and natural medicines.
Vendors also will be speaking on hair cutting, ham radio/communication, how to start a fire without a match, fly tying, making easy treats, food supplies, Neighborhood Watch programs, and more. There also will be music and entertainment for children.
The event is for all interested in learning more about preparing from an emergency, whether it’s a power outage or a snowstorm that strands you for several days, organizers said.
