SANDPOINT — On Sunday, Dec. 9, the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force, along with the Foundation for Human Rights Action & Advocacy, will host a celebration of the 70th anniversary of Human Rights Day.
This year’s event will focus on the right to “seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media,” as expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
At this time, journalists all over the world — and even here at home — are under assault. Representatives of the Daily Bee, The Reader, The Cedar Post, KRFY and KPND will form a panel to discuss the important role that journalism and the freedom of the press plays in our community — and in our democracy.
The public is invited to join in this celebration which will begin at 1 p.m. at the Sandpoint High School auditorium.
