SANDPOINT — The community is invited to celebrate our community’s veterans, learn more about the Veterans of Foreign Wars and have a good time.

The VFW Beer Fest will take place Friday, Feb. 8, from 5-8 p.m. at Matchwood Brewing, 513 Oak St., Sandpoint.

All are welcome to participate.

“You don’t have to be a veteran, just one who supports veterans and the community,” said Ken Hunt.

Those who attend can enter to win an Attleboro knife (must be present to win).

The first beer if free for all veterans and the Sandpoint VFW will pay first year’s membership for any eligible veteran.

The Sandpoint VFW Post is proud to announce a series of veteran sponsored and local business-supported beer fests, a summer event at The 219 Lounge and a fall event at MickDuff’s Brewing Co.

“Our aim is to increase membership so we can help our community,” Hunt said.

Matchwood Brewing will host this inaugural event. They also sponsored three veteran employees for their first year’s VFW membership and invites other business owners to do the same. Matchwood Brewing is also offering a 20-percent discount for VFW members.
