Woman indicted on felony charges

SANDPOINT — A Bonner County grand jury is indicting a Priest Lake woman on felony charges of injury to a child and accessory to lewd conduct.

Sheenagh Elizabeth Adams made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Friday via videoconferencing with the Bonner County Jail. Judge Tera Harden sustained Adams’ $20,000 bail and appointed a public defender to represent her. Harden asked Adams if she understood the charges, in addition to her legal and constitutional rights. “I understand,” Adams said in a quiet, emotional voice.

The indictment alleges Adams placed a teenage girl in a position to be raped by William Scott Wegner, who is also under indictment by a grand jury, over an eight-month period in Bonner County.

The indictment against Adams further alleges that she aided and abetted Wegner’s lewd conduct by concealing the fact that the teen was impregnated by Wegner, whom she allegedly put up in a Bonner County motel to shield him from authorities.

Adams, 35, is scheduled to be arraigned in 1st District Court on May 6.

Wegner, 40, was indicted last month on charges of lewd conduct involving a 5-year-old and a child between the ages of 12-14. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in April, although his defense counsel moved for a forensic psychological evaluation after questions about his competency to proceed and assist were drawn into question.

The motion could stay criminal proceedings against Wegner, although it’s not clear if the motion was granted because the case is no longer accessible by the public.

Also currently hidden from public view is the criminal case against Jess Robert Logan, who was indicted by a grand jury last year on charges of lewd conduct, sexual abuse and bestiality.

Logan was scheduled to have a pretrial conference in 1st District on Friday, but the hearing was stricken from the docket and his case could not be located in the public iCourt database.
