Allen earns medalist honors at 1A-2A Region 1 golf tourney

Miners top five-team field to capture title

BIG CREEK — Clark Fork's Nate Allen won medalist honors with a score of 82 and helped the second place Wampus Cat boys advance to the 1A-2A state golf tournament.

However, both the Wallace boys and girls golf teams finished first to capture a pair of 1A-2A Region 1 golf tournament titles at Shoshone Golf Course on Tuesday in Big Creek.

Wallace sophomore Cara Hayman topped the girls field with a 90 on the afternoon.

Wallace's girls team advanced as the only complete girls team in the field. Lapwai and Orofino did not field any girls players.

Wallace's boys teams defeated Clark Fork by just four strokes with a final score of 368. Clark Fork's Chris Currie scored a 93, while Kyle Ruen hit a 94.

The Clark Fork girls did not field a complete team, however Tiffany Van Buren finished fourth overall with a score of 126.

The 1A-2A State Match is in Burley next Monday and Tuesday.
