Bears outrun the pack, Bulldog boys finish second
3A: Timberlake boys lead after first day
LEWISTON — With wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays during the final day of the 4A Region 1 track meet at the Vollmer Bowl, the Sandpoint boys track team finished second overall and qualified for state in a dozen events.
Also leading the charge for Sandpoint was Blake Mahler who had a victory in the 300 intermediate hurdles Friday.
The Bulldog girls placed third overall with a strong performance by Courtney Adams who took first in the 200 and second in the 100. The Sandpoint girls qualified for state in six events.
State is Thursday and Friday at Boise State.

3A Track
SPIRIT LAKE — After the first day of the 3A District 1 meet at Timberlake, the Bonners Ferry girls led the pack with 41 team points.
Katie Poston and Shantel Schirado of Bonners had victories in the discus and pole vault, respectively. Priest River's Whitney Payment won the 3,200.
In boys action, Timberlake had wins by Frank Lagrimanta in the 3,200 and Eric Lambert in the long jump to give the Tigers the lead. Bonners Ferry boys are currently third, with Priest River trailing the pack in fifth place despite a win in the shot put by Spartan Randy Cork (47 feet, 2 3/4 inches).
The meet concludes today, with field events at 10 a.m. and running events at 11 a.m.
