Wanda Lorraine (Morley) Vance, 88

Wanda Lorraine (Morley) Vance, 88, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Sandpoint, Idaho. There will be a celebration of her life at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2006, at the First Christian Church in Sandpoint with Pastor Tony Nelson officiating.

Wanda was born on Dec. 6, 1917, in Penokee, Kan., the daughter of Glen J. and Florence A. McCartney.

The family moved from Kansas to California when she was very young, attended San Bernardino schools and graduated in 1935 from San Bernardino High School.

She married Jens Allen Morley on July 8, 1935, and they remained in San Bernardino.

After raising three children, she began her career as a school secretary for several schools in San Bernardino.

After building and managing an apartment complex, Wanda and Jens moved to a mountain home in Running Springs, Calif., for several years and then back to Highland, Calif.

She was formerly a Brownie troop leader, president of the PTA in 1948 and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in California and was Worthy Matron of Arrowhead Chapter in San Bernardino in 1962.

Wanda and Jens spent many summers in their mobile home at Jeb & Margaret's Trailer Haven on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille in Hope, Idaho.

After the death of her husband in 1987, Wanda moved to Idaho and spent winters with her daughter and son-in-law in Sandpoint and summers in Hope. She married Ted Vance in May 1993 and they were later divorced.

She was a member of Martha Chapter No. 34, O.E.S. in Sandpoint and a member of First Christian Church.

Wanda had a gift of creativity and made crafts of all kinds throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, sewing, reading and playing cards, as well as spending time with her family.

More recently, she was an avid reader and enjoyed playing pinochle with her group. She was loved by family and many friends and will be extremely missed.

Wanda is survived by her son Richard A. Morley and wife Joan of Tigard, Oregon; daughter Linda L. Ousley and husband Paul of Sandpoint, Idaho; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by here parents; her husband of 52 years, Jens; a son Daniel; an infant brother; a sister Della Miles; and Ted Vance.
