Bulldogs fall to Vikings in softball

COEUR d' ALENE — Freshman Kim Guercio had two hits for the Bulldogs, whose nine errors were too much to overcome as they fell 24-1 to the Vikings of Coeur d' Alene.

Coeur d'Alene pitcher Heather Helmhout had three hits and struck out 10 Sandpoint batters in the shortened game, as the Vikings are rounding into state championship form.

Sandpoint travels to Moscow on Saturday.

? Clark Fork drops Troy in tennis

TROY, MONT — Rayna Allen won at No. 1 Girls and No. 1 Mixed Doubles, teaming with Tia Becker and Martin Fuelleborn respectively, as Clark Fork beat Troy 7-4 Thursday afternoon. Bill Clayton and Thomas McMahon won a third set tie-breaker to win in No. 1 Boys Doubles.

"They started out slow and couldn't get their serves in," said Clark Fork coach Lisa Allen. "In the second set they worked together."

Fuelleborn won three pro set singles matches as well, and Mike Martin rallied to win a tough second se at No. 1 singles.

"Mike played smart and started working his opponents backhand," said Allen of Martin's turnaround after dropping the first set.

Clark Fork heads to Moscow on Saturday for an eight-team meet.

? Walker leads Priest River past Timberlake in golf

PRIEST RIVER — Shawn Walker shot a 3-over-par 36 at the Ranch Club to lead Priest River's boys, who fielded the only full team of the four in Intermountain League action against Timberlake.
