Clemons seeks input from assessor's staff

| December 2, 2006 8:00 PM

After the election, I got a call from the current assessor congratulating me and stating that she would help in any way to make a smooth transition. Based on that spirit of cooperation, I wrote a letter along with a questionnaire and had enough printed for each employee.

Meetings were set up by the assessor's chief deputy with permission from the assessor for me to have meetings with each employee during working hours to get to know them, what they do and gather any ideas they had to better serve the citizens.

I then got a call from the assessor on Nov. 16 saying that she would not let me meet with the employees during working hours, and that I would have to wait until I took office. I tried to get the home mailing addresses of each employee and could not obtain all of that information for a number of reasons.

These interviews are very important since I have to make decisions regarding key supervisory positions and cannot do that until I talk to all the employees.

However, if any employee wants to talk to me or meet with me on his or her own time, please give me a call.

JERRY CLEMONS,

Assessor-elect

Hope
