Horace 'Harry' Lea, 93

Horace "Harry" Lea, 93, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel.

Harry was born in Manchester, England, on Sept. 14, 1912, and married Margaret Hooper on Nov. 4, 1954, in Western Super Mare, England.

He moved, through Canada, to America in 1957, living in Madison Heights, Mich. He worked in the design department of General Motors.

He was instrumental in organizing the Common Wealth Club of Detriot, a social club of travelers and immigrants from Europe.

He arranged social trips back to Europe for members, chartering DC-4s for the club. The club would send golf and dart teams to Canada for competition.

He also lived in Sandpoint for some time, owning the Diamond W Motel, later moving to California.

He returned to his home in England for a number of years, moving back to Sandpoint in 2004 to be close to Margaret's family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lea of Sandpoint; his daughter, Maureen Walker of England; a son, John P. Lea of Aikens, S.C.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
