Property tax reform must be done now

| March 6, 2006 8:00 PM

I would like to offer my compliments to the folks at Sensible Taxation of Property for their efforts to get a measure on the ballot to control our ever-increasing property taxes. They are in contact with people in other counties who have signed on to the initiative and are collecting signatures.

It will take 55,000 signatures of registered voters statewide before it will appear as an initiative on the ballot. Property owners in Bonner county who want an end to open-ended property taxation should sign the petition. They can be found at most real estate offices, Sandpoint Super Drug, Packages Plus, Monarch Mountain Coffee and the CAL thrift shop on Kootenai Cutoff Road.

Property tax reform can be done. It must be done.
