Voters wisely chose not to listen to biased media

| November 27, 2006 8:00 PM

This letter is in response to the Nov. 19 letter from Democratic candidate Bob Wynhausen.

The posting of a letter such as yours indicates to me that you are a poor loser. I was offended by your letter because you made it sound like because the people in this region did not vote for you that we are ignorant. You said that Jerry Brady and Larry Grant "ran positive campaigns." Excuse me Mr. Wynhausen, but what planet were you on while you were watching these "positive campaigns?"

All of the TV spots and buzz words during this election were as vicious and vindictive as I have ever seen. Democrats and Republicans alike ran terribly ruthless ads. I believe it is called politics. So you think you found the answer as to why you lost? You cited pre-election poll on Bush job performance. You said state by state data showed Bush at 37 percent clearly accounting for the national discontent. You, of course, must realize that most presidents become a subject of discontent in the winding down of their presidency. You also said that Idaho led the field in the belief that the President was doing a good job at 57 percent. Well, Mr. Wynhausen, I am very proud to live in a state and a region that recognizes the incredibly difficult and thankless efforts of our commander in chief in trying to make decisions that would give us "regular folks" nightmares for the rest of our lives.

Yes, Mr. Wynhausen, we get the same news as everybody else, but it is obvious that the people of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Utah know better than to believe in the credibility of the national media. They, the media, seem to earn their living telling lies and fairy tales and the folks in these four states know it. Why is the Mountain West so disconnected from the rest of the country you ask? You suggested we get too much clean air and water. I very much agree we are disconnected from the rest of the country and I hope we remain that way. I also hope the rest of the country has the opportunity to experience fresher air and cleaner water in the next election.
