Paula Pat Vinton, 69

Paula Pat Vinton, 69, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division St., Sandpoint, Idaho. Charley Packard will be officiating.

Paula was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Orange County, Calif. Her parents were Bill and Catherine Shaw, formerly of Texas.

Paula lived much of her early life in Long Beach, Calif. She attended Elementary, High School and City College in Long Beach.

Paula married her husband, Walter Vinton, Sept. 7, 1958, in Long Beach, Calif. Paula, her husband and children lived in the city of Cypress, County of Orange for about 26 years. Following her husband's retirement from a major oil and gas producing company, Paula and her family retreated to the central coast of California, San Luis Obispo County.

They lived in San Luis Obispo County from 1989 to 2003. In 2003 Paula and her husband relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho, in hopes of living in a cooler climate with the four seasons. Paula loved Sandpoint.

Paula loved to read books, she not only loved to read, she wanted to own the books. She possessed many hard and soft cover books. Before leaving San Luis Obispo, Ca. Paula donated more than 1,000 books to libraries, prisons and other organizations.

Paula was a needlepointer and knitter. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She loved to do crossword puzzles, and watch her favorite TV shows. She loved to watch the very old movies.

Paula was a member of the Women's Community Assistance Leagues. She loved attending the meetings and visiting with members. She was unable to be as active as she wanted to be due to her illness.

Paula is survived by her husband of 48 years, Walter A. Vinton of Sandpoint, two children, Nicholas L. Vinton and Nelson G. Vinton, and a granddaughter, Amber Vinton, all of the Central Coast of California.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Memorials may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society, Research Division.
