Jennifer Lee Vorhies-Storaasli, 27, passed away suddenly on Sept. 23, 2006, in California.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, Idaho.

Local memorial services will be held 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Cedar Hills Church in Kootenai, Idaho, with Pastor Eric Rust Officiating.

Jennifer was born on May 11, 1979, in Granada Hills, Calif., and moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho, in 1995. She graduated from Priest River Lamanna High School in 1997.

After high school, Jennifer attended the University of Idaho and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 2002. She student-taught in Potlatch, Idaho, and then started her career teaching emotionally disturbed children in Boise, Idaho.

Later she got a job teaching students in Juvenile Detention in Sandpoint, Idaho. Her career included classroom teaching at Southside and Farmin Stidwell elementary schools in Sandpoint. Jenny loved teaching both special education and reading to young children. She worked tirelessly to help her students.

Survivors include her husband, Josh Storaasli of Clark Fork, Idaho; a son, Zachary Storaasli of Clark Fork; her mother, Kristin Hruby of Spirit Lake, Idaho; her stepfather, John Hruby of Spirit Lake, Idaho; her brother, Patrick Hruby of California; her sisters, Emily Hruby of California and Elizabeth Hruby of Spirit Lake; her maternal grandmother, Bernice Miland Borges of California; and her paternal grandparents, MaryLee Vorhies of California and Robert Vorhies of California. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert "Pop Pop" Miland; and her father, Lee Vorhies.

Jennifer's favorite verse was Isaiah 40:31 — "And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you up on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun and hold you in the palm of His Hand."

Jennifer will be truly missed, always loved and remembered by her friends, family, students and co-workers. She was a gentle, intelligent, loving and kind young woman.

A special memorial fund has been set up at Panhandle State Bank c/o Josh Storaasli to assist with the care of her son.
