SHS golfers endure brutal conditions in Moscow

| April 14, 2008 9:00 PM

MOSCOW - The Sandpoint girls golf team finished in sixth place in the Moscow Invitational on Monday, a tournament shortened to nine holes due to torrential rain and a 29-degree wind chill factor.

Jesse Merwin, Bonnie Snow and Anna Ballard each shot in the 50s, which head coach Jim Alsager termed a great accomplishment, considering that it was raining sideways at times.

“It was a hypothermia special - wind, cold and rain,” Alsager said of the brutal conditions, which continued to worsen as the round progressed. “It was a long time to be out there being blown around.”

Sandpoint is at the Lakeland Invitational on Wednesday, then hosts its own tournament Monday at Stoneridge, provided they are open.
