Jacob Nathan Mattos, 23

Jacob Nathan Mattos, 23, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2008, at Kootenai Medical Center.

Jacob was born in Kingman, Ariz., on March 29, 1985, and lived in Kingman until moving to North Idaho in late 1992.

Jacob attended school in Sandpoint. Idaho, in his early years and made many friends and participated in a variety of sports activities.

Jacob moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1997 where he attended middle school and high school, and later graduated from Sandpoint High School in 2003.

After graduating from high school, Jacob began his career as a commercial fisherman in Alaska working on numerous fishing boats.

During the off months Jacob enjoyed fishing, golf and spending time with friends and family.

Jacob is survived by his father and stepmother, Daniel and Linda Mattos of Post Falls, Idaho; his mother and stepfather, Miriam and Gary Noble of Sandpoint; his sister, Brooke Meeks of Coeur d'Alene; his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Mike and Mary Martin of Coeur d'Alene; his paternal grandfather and grandmother, Marvin and Maureen Ownbey of Gentry, Ark.; and a host of other relatives all of whom were close to his heart.

Jacob will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him and loved him.

Private family services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008.

Although Jacob left no parting wishes, it is believed that his love of the sea would be remembered by him in any last wish.

With this in mind, any donations to Maritime Memorials throughout the country would undoubtedly be something that Jacob would have appreciated.
