James Robert 'JR' Edgcomb, 57

James Robert "JR" Edgcomb, 57, passed away the morning of Jan. 1, 2008, in Sandpoint, Idaho.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Pastor Brian Noble, Sandpoint Assembly of God, will officiate. The service will close with military honors.Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Friday afternoon from noon until 6 p.m. to pay respects.JR was born in VanNuys, Calif., on June 30, 1950, the son of Robert and Peggy Edgcomb. He graduated from high school in California and then served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.In San Diego he worked as a commercial diver and married Krisanne E. Hansen on April 2, 1978, in San Jose, Calif. From 1983 until 1990 he was a machinist, in the aircraft industry, in southern California. He moved to Sandpoint in 1994 and worked for Louisiana Pacific until retiring for health reasons in 2001. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, The Vietnam Veterans Association, and was a founding member of the Dinky Dau Breakfast Club, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.JR enjoyed his horses, going riding, gathering and swapping stories with his veteran buddies at the Samuels Coffee Shop.He is survived by his wife, Krisanne Edgcomb of Sandpoint; his mother, Peggy Edgcomb of Burlington, Vt.; a brother, Arne Edgcomb of Burlington, Vt.; a sister, Shirley Appel of Incline Village, Nev.; and his best friends, his dogs, Pooh Bear and Eeyore.His father and his grandparents preceded him in death.Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 890, PO Box 2014, Sandpoint Idaho 83864 or to the Panhandle Animal Shelter, 1624 Great Northern Road, Sandpoint, ID 83864Family and friends are invited to sign JR's online guestbook at www.coffeltfuneral.com.Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
