Bulldog girls battle Lewiston to 1-1 tie

LEWISTON — Senior sweeper McKinzi Obaitek scored Sandpoint’s lone goal on a direct kick in the 36th minute, as the Bulldogs earned a 1-1 tie in Inland Empire League girls soccer action at Lewiston High School.

The Bulldogs (0-0-2) held the lead behind some solid defense and goalkeeping by Bailey Scrimsher, before Lewiston scored the equalizer in the 64th minute for the game’s final goal.

Sandpoint out-shot Lewiston 18-13, creating plenty of offensive chances.

The Bulldogs will make their home debut on Saturday, when they host Coeur d’Alene at noon at Centennial Field.
