Skiing out of bounds only leads to trouble

| December 30, 2010 6:00 AM

I am a 16-year-old student at the high school, and I love to ski at Schweitzer. Last week, I had a situation that was dangerous and scary.

My friends and I tried to help someone skiing with us who we thought was in trouble — turned out she was OK but we got ourselves out of bounds and down the back of the mountain. This caused a lot of trouble because the ski patrol had to come rescue us in the dark.

I want everyone to know how thankful I am that they were able to get us out, and that they are good at their job.

We did a dumb thing by skiing out of bounds and I will never do that again — if I think someone needs help I will let the ski patrol people do their job.

Thank you for saving us, and I am sorry for all the trouble we put you through. I know it was dangerous for all of you to come get us on your snowmobiles in the dark. Thanks for being good at your job.

No one should ever ski out of bounds at Schweitzer because it might cause a situation like what happened to me.
