Chamber helping local businesses get social

| April 11, 2012 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Just how social is your business?

If you’ve wondered what role social media could play in your business, head on over to the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon meeting Thursday. Sponsored by Northwest MedStar, this luncheon is held from noon-1 p.m. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room of the Panhandle State Bank Building, 414 Church.

Mack Deibel, chamber communications specialist, is presenting on how social media can help your business, why you should use it and how to use it.

The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

With more than half of the world’s population under 30 years of age, the need for interactive and social media marketing is growing. For many business owners, they’ve created a Facebook page but are wondering: “What next?”

Deibel will offer some new ideas, answer some of those questions, provide guidance, and offer simple tips to improve your social media space. Also, he will explain the differences and benefits of other social medias besides Facebook. Beyond social media, he will touch on your overall web presence, ways to effectively enhance your reach and help consumers find you on the Internet.

Deibel has an incredible amount of resources and his ear to the ground with all things social media. His background is advertising with an interactive and social media focus. He will teach the basics to control the image of your brand and help you connect with customers, clients and fans online.

“Professors encouraged, as well as forced, us to create interactive and social media campaigns,” said Deibel. “Our efforts should be focused on getting people to engage with our brands not just pushing our products and information.”

RSVP is required and space is limited. The meetings do fill up and have to turn away walk-ins occasionally. Please register online at www.sandpointchamber.com or call 263-2161 to reserve your spot.
