Baseball team swept by Timberwolves
COEUR d’ALENE — The host Timberwolves scored eight runs in the first inning of a 12-2 win in the first game, and led 8-2 before lightning called off the second game of a doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs.
In the first game, Alec Turrell, Sam Schultz and Suraj Kedia had two RBIs each for Lake City (5-8), which capitalized on five Sandpoint errors in the opener.
As the teams were beginning the 7th inning, the game was called off after lightning was spotted in the area.
Sam Nitcy had two hits and Caleb Nishimoto had a two-run single in the first game for Sandpoint (1-10), which travels to Moscow on Saturday for a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader.
“They haven’t been outside a whole lot,” Bevacqua said of Sandpoint. “They never gave up and worked their tails off.”
Nic Farrell and Justin Orr had two of the Bulldogs’ three hits in the second game.

Laurel Presser and Maggie Kirscher had singles in the first game for Sandpoint (3-11), which travels to Moscow on Saturday.
