Popular vote is needed to determine president

| April 26, 2012 7:00 AM

How sad that in this day of computers, email, cellphones, iPads and iPhones, as well as Skype we are still selecting delegates that we think or hope will represent us in nominating a presidential candidate for our political party. This goes back to the days of horse and buggies.

Wake up, Americans. We do not need a two- or three- or four-party system in this country any longer. The office of president of the United States of America should be decided by the popular vote of the American people.

The person who gets the most votes will become president and the one with the second-most votes becomes the vice president. No more of having a person running for any office with the most money becoming the candidate like the Republicans, who will be choosing Mitt Romney.

I can think of many more people who are much better qualified then Mitt Romney but do not have the millions he has, (thanks ,Daddy), to spend on advertising. I would just as soon vote for the owner of “Dirty Ernie’s Used Food Store.” I think he would be better qualified.

“Delegates? Delegates? We don’t need no stinkin’ delegates.”
