SANDPOINT — A Clark Fork woman implicated in a deadly crash on Highway 200 was released on her own recognizance Wednesday after waiving her right to a speedy preliminary hearing.

The hearing to determine whether Brianna Lucille Knapp should be tried for leaving the scene of an injury cash has been reset for Sept. 5. Bonner County Deputy Prosecutor Roger Hanlon sought a 30-day continuance because the crash investigation is still ongoing.

Idaho State Police said Knapp, 28, was driving westbound near Clark Fork when she collided with a motorcyclist who lost control crashed in a construction zone only moments earlier on July 24. Knapp is accused of leaving the scene of the crash, in addition to driving without insurance and with a suspended license.

Kurt P. Henson, 47, of Post Falls, was westbound when he crashed his Harley-Davidson after striking an abrupt lane edge in the construction zone. He was then hit by Knapp’s pickup truck, state police said.

A passenger on the motorcycle, 43-year-old Kimberly Lenox, survived the crash.
