Farris is dedicated to serving Idaho

| August 16, 2012 7:00 AM

Early in my life, a young man took me under his wing and showed me you didn’t have to be the biggest or the strongest to succeed, you simply had to be the most determined to overcome adversity. He cared about those with less and, despite the fame he received, he always remembered those he inspired.

To me, he is Jimmy. You may know him simply as congressional candidate Jimmy Farris. I am proud to call him my friend.

He is an Idaho boy who reached the pinnacles of personal success and won a Super Bowl. He came home because, like me, he has big dreams for Idaho and remembers he is the summation of his home. He is a doer who believes strongly in the capability of individual liberty and personal accountability. He is a fiscal conservative who has built the measure of his life upon the sweat of his own labor. Yet, he was always compassionate to guys like me, who had less, but who could be more with action.

Jimmy once told me to make every day matter. He inspired me to give one more smile, one more thank you and keep one more promise. In Jimmy, I saw that the key to changing my future was found in “one more.” He succeeded where he wasn’t big enough, fast enough or strong enough because he has the heart of a lion. I look up to that.

I know many of you are just like me, conservative and strong advocates for individual liberty. I also know, that just like me, none of you would leverage the welfare of our grandparents or our children or grandchildren in the name of any ideology.

Jimmy Farris is more than a Democrat. He believes that individual liberty always necessitates social responsibility. His life and those he has inspired are a testament to that.

I believe in my heart that Jimmy Farris is going to hold Congress accountable to the people and families of Idaho and America whether rich or poor, Republican or Democrat.
