Travers, Weindl register pins against Timberlake

SPIRIT LAKE —  Josh Travers (195 pounds) and Adam Weindl (182) each registered pins for the  Bulldogs, who lost 60-15 to the Tigers in a season-opening dual for both teams at Timberlake High School on Thursday.

Ryan McNelly (113) registered a 4-3 decision for Sandpoint’s other win, as the young Bulldogs had forfeits in five weights.

“They wrestled pretty tough,” Timberlake head coach Ryan Montang said of Sandpoint. “You don’t know how a dual is going to end up if they wouldn’t have had those forfeits. They’ve got a good coach and I’m sure they’re going to continue to get better throughout the season.”

Sandpoint is at Riverside High School on Tuesday.
