Olin drops in 22 as Sandpoint falls to Pendleton

PENDLETON, Ore. — Hailey Olin scored a game-high 22 points, including a sharp 6-10 from beyond the arc, but the Bulldogs lost 63-57 to Pendleton in the tournament opener on Friday night at Pendleton High School.

Olin added seven boards, five assists and two steals, Lily Martin added four assists, Nikole Alamillo eight points and Jordan Speelmon four assists and four steals for the Bulldogs (4-4), who just couldn’t push through in a close game throughout.

Junior Kendra Corless scored four points to go with three rebounds and two assists, earning the praise of her coach, but turnovers ultimately proved too costly to overcome.

“A solid start gave way to unforced physical and mental lapses, and cold shooting and uncharacteristically poor rebounding at both ends,” said Bulldogs head coach Bill Bender. “Olin’s 22 points and the excellent effort of Kendra Corless kept the game close, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the self-inflicted wounds for the game.”

Sandpoint will face the loser of Pasco/Clarkston today in the third place game.
