Wampus Cats pull off NSL sweep of Tigers

MULLAN — Zack Klein and Zach Nesbitt scored 10 points apiece, and the Clark Fork boys shook off a sluggish start to earn a 37-24 win over Mullan on Wednesday night in North Star League action at the Mullan Pavillion.

Stillman Berkley added nine points and nine rebounds, and Greg Boudousquie and Axel Anderson patrolled the inside in a stellar defensive effort.

“To hold any team to 24 points is pretty good. We never seem to play well in this gym, and we fell down by six right off the bat,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel, lauding the play of sophomore guard Zach Nesbitt. “He was calm and had a couple of 3-pointers at opportune moments.”

Clark Fork (3-9, 2-2 NSL) hosts Stillwater Christian on Saturday.

n Kailang leads Cats past Tigers

MULLAN — Dimi Kailang scored a game-high 18 points and four steals to lead the Wampus Cats past the Tigers in a North Star  League girls basketball game at the Mullan Pavilion on Wednesday.

Celeste Komanec added 13 points and four assists, Brocklynn Thornton grabbed 10 rebounds, Tessa Vogel nine and Claire McMahon seven as Clark Fork (11-5, 8-0 NSL) dominated the boards.

It was a season high for Kailang, who leads a very balanced scoring attack.

“She penetrated really well and went strong to the hoop. She had a great game,” said Cats head coach Dexter Vogel of his shooting guard. “I’m trying to get her prepared for going to state and handling adversity.”

Sydney Koenig had 12 points, 11 rebounds and Kami McKinnon had 11 points and nine rebounds for Mullan (2-12, 0-7).

Clark Fork hosts Stillwater Christian on Saturday.
