Clark Fork falls on the road against Stillwater Christian

KALISPELL, Mont. — Tessa Vogel scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but a tough first half proved to much to overcome, as the Wampus Cats fell 50-40 to Stillwater Christian Friday night in nonleague girls basketball in Kalispell.

Brocklynn Thornton pulled down 11 rebounds to go with nine points, Celeste Komanec added eight points and seven assists and Dimi Kailang seven points and six steals for the Wampus Cats (7-4), whose four losses have come against bigger schools.

The Cats scored just two second quarter points and trailed by 14 points at half, before outscoring Stillwater 29-25 in the second half.

“We did so well in the second half tonight. We finally got it going,” said Cats head coach Dexter Vogel, lamenting a bunch of first half turnovers. “We regrouped in the second half, gathered our composure and moved the ball a lot better.”

Clark Fork hosts Wallace in a North Star League showdown on Saturday, with the JV game tipping off at 3 p.m., followed by the varsity at 4:30 p.m.
