COEUR d’ALENE — Maggie Kirscher scored 12 of her team-high 16 points in the first half to lead Sandpoint, but Lake City dominated the third quarter en route to a 48-27 win in nonleague girls basketball Tuesday night at Lake City High School.

Kirscher added eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (7-10), who started strong and trailed 21-20 late in the second quarter. Sandpoint was outscored 11-2 in the pivotal third quarter, which they started by missing a few easy looks.

“That kind of set the tone and it was how the game went after that,” said Bulldogs assistant coach Melvin Speelmon, praising the play of Kirscher. “She tore it up in the first half. She was going hard to the hole, then was hitting those 10 to 15 footers; she just had it going.”

Hailey Olin added five points and seven rebounds, and Jordan Speelmon four points and seven boards as the Bulldogs committed 15 turnovers, as they continue to improve in that area.

Jasmyn Smith scored 15 points to lead the 5A Timberwolves (10-8).

Sandpoint travels to Priest River on Thursday.
