SANDPOINT — Jeremiah Gagnon scored twice and Anthony Fox added a goal as the pair continue to ripple the back of the net, leading the Bulldog boys to a 3-0 blanking of Bonners Ferry on Thursday in nonleague boys soccer at Centennial Field.

Gagnon now had seven goals on the season and Fox eight, as the pair are forming a potent one-two punch in the Bulldogs (6-2) attack.

“Bonners Ferry played us tough. They pressed up and were hustling,” said Bulldogs coach Adam Tajan. “We had to fight to find those chances.”

Jake Rookey earned his fourth shutout in goal, as the Bulldogs held a big edge in possession.

Garrett Skeen had 11 saves for the Badgers (2-2-1), and head coach Ed Moe singled out the play of Keaton Tremble and Cameron Woods in defeat.

“We played pretty well, and played over our heads,” said Moe. “We’re not at their level, so we were happy with the performance.”

Bulldog girls blanked by Mt. Spokane

SPOKANE — Even though his team lost 2-0 to Mt. Spokane on Thursday, Sandpoint head coach Conor Baranski felt his defense was the strongest it’s been all season.

Jennie Meulenberg, Corinne Ariss, Alanna Robinson and Kendra Corless were solid in the back four, and Makayla Sundquist stopped five shots between the pipes.

“That was the best defense we’ve played as a group all year,” said Baranski. “Unfortunately, two defensive breakdowns cost us two goals.”

Baranski also praised the play of Meghan Pagano, who created a lot of good chances in the attack.
